Wedding Favors

Wedding favors are small gifts to guests at a wedding in thankfulness from the bride and groom. These wedding favors can be distributed during a wedding or reception. Wedding favors began to be distributed amongst guests with European aristocrats. They usually consisted of a tiny box filled with extravagant confections. These favors signified their wealth and royalty. In that time period, sugar was fairly expensive and was considered to be treasured only among the wealthy.

Today, common wedding favors can range from classic sugared almonds, chocolates, candles and scented soaps. Other gifts may include preferred music from the bride and groom or other personalized items. Today, gifts to guests are often known as wedding favors and are shared in cultures throughout the world. Wedding favors are commonly a part of wedding reception planning.
